FAQ's

There are two possible ways to apply: 

• Your home university nominates you as an exchange student. 

• You independently apply to the program. Note that this option has a tuition fee. 

For the Spring 2024 semester and the Winter 2024 programs, the deadline to apply is November 10th, 2023. You can check the detailed calendar here. 

If you are interested in booking a room for Residence Halls, you should contact Katya Jiménez, katy.jimenez@tec.mx and she will guide you through the process of booking, signing a contract, payments, etc. 

For the Spring 2024 semester we will have the following available housing options: 

Homestay Program: You will be matched with a Mexican family where you will share experiences by living together. The program includes one individual room, three meals per day, all basic services, and laundry.

On-campus Residence Halls:  We have a brand-new Residence Hall for national and international students! This is great if you want to have TEC roommates and live in amazing facilities. 

Independent Housing: If you're looking for an independent room, apartment, or house, we have a website with housing options where we publish options that belong to members of the TEC Community. It is the student’s responsibility to contact the landlord. 

Yes, it is mandatory for all international students to be covered by an international health insurance plan.

For the Spring 2024 semester, the official arrival day is February 2nd. Note you do not have to attend to the campus on this day. 

No, students need to arrange their own transportation once they arrive.

If you arrive at Mexico City's airport (recommended) you can take a bus to Queretaro. If your flight lands at the Queretaro Intercontinental airport, the best option is to take a taxi or an Uber to your final destination. 

Yes, all students should attend the Orientation Days.

Yes, Spanish as a Foreign Language course is available exclusively for international students. After you take your Spanish Placement Test, one of the three available levels will be offered to you.

Yes, students can take regular courses in Spanish as long as they obtain an advanced level in the Spanish Placement Test. 

Students can take regular courses from all faculties as long as they have previous knowledge in the matter. However, they do not need to fulfill the prerequisites some courses ask for.

Querétaro is one of the safest cities in the country. But as in all places, you will have to follow some safety recommendations. 

Living costs in Querétaro range between $8,446 MXN ($477 USD) and $12,489 MXN ($706 USD) including rent, transportation, and some personal expenses. 

The city has a large number of attractions to visit during the weekend. Some of these places are located in the beautiful Historic Center, full of monuments and plazas. Also, there are multiple museums, cafes, and different activities such as bowling alleys, cinemas, and go-karts, among others. 

As Querétaro is located in the center of the country, it is the perfect place to get to know absolutely everything you need. From Pueblos Mágicos like San Miguel de Allende or Peña de Bernal to popular ports and beaches. 

Querétaro has a warm climate most of the year.  The average temperature is 24°C to 28 °C. From November to early March, you will find cloudy and cold mornings, April, May, and June are our warmest and sunnier months. July, August, and September have nice warm, temperate, and rainy days.
