Privacy Options:
YouTube has 3 settings for privacy, you can choose your privacy setting at the time of upload, or at any stage using YouTube’s Video Manager:
- PUBLIC – If you choose to make your video public, viewers around the world will be able to find your video through searches. Information from your username, video title, video description and tags will determine how the video is discovered.
- UNLISTED – When you upload a video and choose the “Unlisted Option,” the video is only viewable by people with the URL/link for the video. This allows you to tailor who gets to see your video and how they access it (i.e. via your website, blog, email, Blackboard, etc.) Unlisted videos will not show up in searches on YouTube, Google, or other search engines.
- PRIVATE – The Private setting allows you to give permission and access to specific people (group member, professor, etc.) to view your video by entering in their email address or username. Private videos will not show up in searches on YouTube, Google, or other search engines.
