About!

Hello friends and family!

Gabrielle here! I am so excited to share my experiences with you as I teach in the tropics! I am currently a senior at Messiah University in Mechanicsburg, PA majoring in Biology with a secondary teaching certificate. I just finished my first half of student teaching at East Pennsboro High School (aka one of my favorite schools with the best students and teachers!). I am so blessed to have the opportunity to do my second half of student teaching at Wesleyan Academy in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico!

Back in the summer of 2018, I visited Añasco, PR on a mission trip through my church. We did hurricane relief projects and I fell in love with the country, its people, and especially its palm trees.

As part of the study abroad opportunities granted from my university, students seeking teaching certificates are able to complete both domestic and international student teaching placement. My love for travel prompted me to jump on the opportunity. After long hours of researching schools, I landed at Wesleyan Academy in Guaynabo. I loved the faith integration of the school and am glad it is a international school (Biology in English is hard enough.. can you imagine teaching it in Spanish?!).

I plan to update weekly blogs every Sunday evening!

did I mention palm trees?!
