We understand that there are unforeseen circumstances. We will always try our best to recuperate lost funds, but when working with small vendors, this is sometimes more difficult.
A detailed packing list will be provided before travel. Students are expected to follow local dress codes, which will be explained in both the packing list and during pre-trip meetings. Please keep in mind that we will be spending time in local schools, so appropriate attire is essential.
All students are limited to one carry-on–size suitcase and one backpack. No exceptions.
Each trip is limited to approximately 20 student participants and will be supported by three adult chaperones. Student selection is based on several factors:
Previous experience: Priority is given to students who have successfully participated in past trips.
Application responses: Thoughtful, meaningful answers to the application questions are highly valued.
Grade-level balance: We strive to create a well-rounded group with representation from multiple grade levels.
Pre-trip commitment: Students must be able to attend all required pre-trip meetings.

Do I need a passport?
YES! Every student must have a passport that is valid for 6 months after our return. If you do not currently have a valid passport, you must begin the process of getting one as soon as you have a confirmed spot on the trip.
Do trips qualify for SSL hours?
Please refer to specific trip descriptions to determine which trips qualify and how many students can earn.
Do students need to know how to speak Spanish to be considered?
While not required, it is recommended that all students be studying Spanish or be very willing to learn! Native and Heritage Speakers are also welcome. Please note that a solid base of Spanish skills is extremely important for the Peru, Ecuador, and Spain trips as students will be working one-on-one in schools.
How do you select the places you visit?
Ms. Zatz and Mr. Krensky have traveled to each location and are familiar with the areas and local communities. Our team works with our local hosts to plan meaningful activities.
Are my costs 401k deductible?
Unfortunately, trip costs are not 401K deductible.
