This adventure in Guatemala offers a meaningful combination of community engagement and adventure. After landing in Guatemala City on Copa Airlines, we will travel to the charming colonial town of Antigua, where students will support two local schools and take part in a variety of service and cultural activities. To conclude the trip, we will travel to the stunning Lake Atitlán, surrounded by volcanoes and traditional Mayan villages.
For three mornings, students support local schools in the classroom and through community-requested projects. Afternoons will be filled with immersive experiences, including walking tours of Antigua, hiking the Pacaya Volcano, learning how to cook a traditional dish, and creating a souvenir-worthy worry doll. These activities create a deeper connection to the local community and culture.
The final portion of our trip brings us to Lake Atitlán, where we will have time to explore various lake towns. In addition to taking in the breathtaking views, students will have time to shop at local markets and continue to indulge in local cuisine.
