To ensure complete mobility, limit distractions, and create and maintain a classroom atmosphere of personal growth and excellence, Lake Shore Dance requires a dress code for students in all of our classes. The dress code outlines wardrobe, shoe styles, and hair requirements.
Please send your child's supplies in a labeled dance bag. Students will bring their bags into the classroom with all of their supplies. This is particularly important for children's classes that require multiple shoes. This will help us facilitate a quick shoe change and limit the possibility of lost shoes and property.
All Lake Shore Dance locations have a wide variety of dance bags in stock for your dancer to choose from! Stop by and take a look!
Dance shoes will be destroyed by wearing them outside. Reiterate to your child that their dance shoes are for inside use only. Dancers will remove their outside shoes before entering the classroom to keep our dance floors clean and free of debris.
THE FIRST FULL WEEK OF EVERY MONTH IS COLOR WEEK - STUDENTS ARE PERMITTED TO CHOOSE DIFFERENT COLORED LEOTARDS/ATHLETIC WEAR TO WEAR IN CLASS. Dancers must still be in dress code during these weeks (ie a leotard and tights for ballet class. )
Females:
Black Leotard
A Ballet Skirt, any color*
Pink Footed Tights
Pink, full-sole, leather ballet shoes (please, no slippers)
Black Patent Leather Tap Shoes (Little Movers and Tiny Tots will not need tap shoes)
Hair pulled back out of the child's face (ponytails, pigtails, braids, and buns are acceptable for long hair)
*One-piece dance dresses are also great; these are connected leotards and skirts.
Tan Jazz shoes (Levels 1 and 2 only; dancers can get these shoes closer to the year-end show)
Males:
Black pants or shorts
