Student and Parent Handbook
Student and Parent Handbook
Most of the correspondence, notices, and studio information is electronic. We have found that paper handouts have a way of getting lost in dance bags or left at the studio and that results in missed information.
We will send home paper copies in a few instances. We typically will have a notification sent to you when a handout is coming home with your child.
Spring Show Costume Sizing Forms are handed out at the end of September. This is a 2-part form personalized for your child with their girth measurement. Using this measurement and the sizing chart on the form, you will select the size you want us to order your child's spring show costume in. You also select the size of tights your child needs (they get a free pair of tights with the costume purchase!) Please read the back of the form before you sign the agreement and turn in both pages of the form by October 15.
Bring a Friend Week Invitations are sent out the second week of classes in September to dancers in Tots 2 through Level 2. This is our first "Theme Week" at the studio. Your child can use this form to invite a friend to dance with them in class during Bring a Friend week. The "friend's" parent needs to sign the invitation to allow the child to take class - please bring the signed form to class with the visitor and give it to the teacher.
Announcement boards hang in the waiting room at all three locations - in Cedarburg, this board is by the front desk, in Port Washington, it is in the studio hallway, and in West Bend, it hangs by the front door. This board has the wi-fi password (it's free and open to use at the studio!), office hours, upcoming events, and more.
Digital Information Screens scroll the monthly calendar, current events, pictures of studio activities, birthday notices, and more. Find these in the parent waiting areas.
Classroom signage is used for updating and reminding you and the dancers about events that are happening now or right around the corner. Each classroom has 2 acrylic sign holders - one shows you the weekly classroom schedule and the other is used for announcements. Sometimes a secondary sign may hang outside the classroom as well.
Door signs hang on the facility entrance/exit doors. These notices include the office hours, registration timelines, and studio closure reminders.
These notices are also on the app and the Parent Portal announcements.
The Parent Portal is a user-friendly, online resource created to help you manage your child's membership at the studio. Here's what you can do on the portal:
View your account, pay your tuition, and update your payment methods

We know that managing your family activities can be stressful. To help you simplify your child's dance experience, the studio has set up an app with quick links, calendar events and reminders, and news postings. You can select to have information sent to you as emails, as push notifications on your phone, or both. You can also choose not to receive notifications if you prefer to go to the website or app on your own time.
Our app is hosted through Stack Team App. The platform hosts a phone app with an accompanying website that offers extra flexibility and communication tools in a secure, members-only format.
Our studio supports three different "Teams" on Team App, you can join whichever one correlates to your child's involvement at the studio.
Simply search for "Stack Team App" in your app store or type teamapp.com into your computer's web browser. Or, click the Team App link below to get started. Set up your account and search for Lake Shore Dance (three words!). You will be directed to join the primary Lake Shore Dance "team"- The app named Lake Shore Dance is for anyone who is registered at Lake Shore Dance.
The great thing about Team App is that you can "chat" with your classmates and teachers, receive push notifications and reminders on your phone, and have important documents and links at your fingertips. You also have the option to receive emails and download our calendar into your calendar. Team App also allows you to set up your children as a "child's account" so you can monitor and oversee their interactions and activities.
Also, access is restricted to Lake Shore Dance families only, and anyone who wishes to see the information on the app has to be approved before receiving access. You can feel confident joining the "team" knowing that your information is only visible to the other pre-approved app members (and you get to choose whether to show your details or not!)
If you are already a member, please request access to the Full Term 2025-2026 access group to receive information.
In-Person: The studio has "office hours" which may be different than our "business hours". Office hours are times that a Client Care Specialist or Administrative Assistant is at our front desk and able to assist you. Business hours are the hours that classes run, but no is at the front desk to help you.
You are always welcome to stop at the front desk to ask questions, make payments, shop for merchandise, or just say "hi"! Please know that our Client care team is always happy to see you, but they also have important administrative work and other clients to help when they are working at the desk. We ask that you are aware that they need to do this work and cannot spend their entire evening having casual conversation.
Clients and students are not allowed behind the front desk to ensure client confidentiality.
All of our children's classes have a 5-minute break after class - this is your opportunity to connect with your child's teacher about class and upcoming events. Our Education Team does not have the same administrative access to information such as account and payment information as the Client care team does, so please reserve those questions for the front desk.
Email and Phone:
Our studio policy is to respond to your questions in the same way that you reached out to us. If you call, we will attempt to call you back and will leave a message if you don't answer. If you email, you will receive an email in return. If we happen to see you and can answer your question in person - even better!
Finally, you may receive mass emails from the studio. If you chose to "opt out" of emails, you will still receive essential emails including studio breaks, weather or emergency closures, and other important information that affects your child's participation.
You may also receive emails from the studio directly to you with answers to your questions, current statements, missed payment or expired payment information, skills updates (things your child has learned), or requests to finish registrations or read the agreement texts.
Each location has a dedicated phone line as well, which is answered during office hours. When you leave a message, our office will call you back during the next shift of office hours.
Our Client Care Team works together to craft a successful experience for you; you may receive calls or responses from any member of our team from any of our locations.
The Client Care team is your first contact for questions and concerns.
