Consistency is the key to your child's success in the dance studio. Please try to bring your child to class consistently, except in cases of illness.
Attendance becomes more crucial as we begin our Spring Show dances in mid-to-late January. Students learn choreography for their dances and build timing and spacing with their classmates for a clean dance onstage. Children who miss more than four classes from mid-January to the end of the session may need to take private lessons to perform in the Spring Show. Alternatively based on our educator's expert opinion, children may be pulled from all or part of their spring show dances if they feel the dancer is not prepared for the show due to absences.
If your child has a fever, diarrhea, vomiting, lice, Strep throat, the flu, or other highly contagious illnesses or conditions, please keep them home from dance. They may return to the studio after the symptoms subside, as advised by a physician, or if the child is fever-free without medication for 48 hours. If your child has an injury, minor headache, or minor cold, they may come to observe class. Please report your child's absence via the Parent Portal.
Students who sit out and observe in Level 3 and higher will fill out observation forms as they observe classes. Electronics are not allowed in the classroom by observers
Studio activities will be canceled in the following instances:
Extreme Winter Weather affecting commutes in the Ozaukee, Washington, and Milwaukee County areas
Power Outages
Flooding
Illnesses affecting a majority of the studio population
The choices to cancel are made with deep consideration of the effect the incident has on the events and the people involved, including students, instructors, and the administrative team. Our primary concern is the safety of our studio family.
Several team members and students come from distances requiring over 30 minutes of travel on good days, so weather affecting any of our service areas may result in cancellations at all locations, even if a specific location is not affected.
Studio closures are reported to the studio family by several channels and methods.

Decisions to close will be made by 1 PM on weekdays or 1 hour before the event begins on weekends and special events. These times may fluctuate if conditions change or an emergency arises.
Personal Absences: Students may make up their absences up to 4 times in the dance year. Make-up lessons must be scheduled in advance with the front desk or via the Parent Portal. Students can make up in classes at any location at or below their current level. Credit is not issued for lessons missed or when more than 4 makeups have been scheduled.
Emergency Absences- Studio Cancellations: Your child may make up lessons canceled by the studio. If a second cancellation occurs on the same day of the week, we will issue cancellation credits to your account and your child may not make up the class. If you would prefer to have your child makeup that class, contact Accountmanagement@lakeshoredance.net to have the credit reversed and schedule the makeup lesson.
