UNITED AIRLINES PRESENTATION

(May 13th, 2024)

I learned a lot of things about being a flight attendant. Ms. Erica was a joy to listen too as she exuded positive energy and made me feel comfortable to ask questions to. I was able to learn how to ask questions pretty quickly as there were many things that I became curious about upon hearing about Ms. Erica' experiences. I also found it nice when I found out she was a previous student of Mr. Chong's so I thought it was nice to learn about what she thought of Mr. Chong's class. Being a flight attendant sounds tough, but fun.

I was surprised upon finding out she was a previous student of Mr. Chong and it made me want to ask her about what she learned in his class back then. I was also bewildered upon learning about some things that flight attendants do. The craziest thing I learned was that if a passenger dies, they just put them back in their seat for the rest of their flight. I was also dumbfounded when I found out that usually there was a height requirement to be a flight attendant. Thankfully, I exceed that height requirement by .5 inches!

HILTON PRESENTATION

(May 7,  2023)

I learned how to properly present myself and what to do in an interview for a job, I also learned about the application process for a job, what it's like at Hilton, and even about other students our age who works there. I was able to practice being interviewed, which I believe I did pretty well at, and learned how to . I also learned about first impressions and just about how much they mattered. Ms. Woods was also very kind to everyone and radiated positive energy that made it easy for me and others to ask questions. I am excited to learn more about Hilton and what to expect it to be like if I ever applied to work there.

I was surprised that she got us chips and gifts, and it adds to her working in the Hospitality industry because she was accommodating and thinking about us. I was worried and nervous when she was about to interview me, but I was able to come up with things on the spot. I was curious while looking through the application form, and I figured out how it would be applying. I wish I was 16 this summer so I could try working at Hilton. Unfortunately, I'm still too young to work there, but I will be willing to try it out as soon as I'm eligible.

AT YOUR SERVICE

I learned that Isadore Sharp is the founder and owner of Four Seasons Hotel and Resorts. The Four Seasons Hotel is known for it's excellent customer service because Mr. Sharp's habit of work was to treat others how he wished to be treated, this saying is also the hotel's golden rule. I learned that he introduced shampoo and other things that are now commonly found in hotels nowadays, such as two-line phones, desk, laundry service, and more. He also was able to find perfect prices for his hotel, which would not only give him profit, but also satisfy the customers and have them return. Because of this, Mr. Sharp has received many accolades and awards for his amazing services.

I found Mr. Sharp's work admirable, he was a very smart and considerate man. I realized how much of an influence he made, as recently I visited a hotel in Japan and even they had shampoos and laundry service in their bathroom. I know now that Mr. Sharp was the one that had the idea to put these necessities in hotels first. I also find it great that he was considerate of the customer's prices, as he always tried to find the best prices for his customers. I thought that the awards he earned were really well deserved. After reading this article, I believe that more people in the Hospitality industry should thrive to be like Mr. Sharp and their business will succeed eventually.

MS. OLIVEROS' PRESENTATION

I learned about Career & Technical Education, which could benefit me in the future. I have to commit to it for 2-3 years and the requirements are for me to have good academic standings, good attendace, and good citizenship, all of which I exceed. I also learned about work experience, which can give me an advantage when I actually leave school and step out on my own. I learned about DCAPs, which could give me 15 free college credits, or $2,000. I am really thankful that Ms. Oliveros brought this to our attention.

I was surprised that DCAPs could save me that much money. In this day and age, inflation is crazy, and I'm not rich. I can't rely on mom and dad's money all the time, so DCAPs would help a lot. I also am excited to try out work experience. It will definetly help me when I grow up, it's important to get that experience when you're young. I hope it will be a fun learning experience.

PROFESSIONAL DRESS DAY

Today, we had to dress professionally at school today. I was a little nervous, knowing that I would walk into school dressed differently than majority of the students there, but I ended up feeling very comfortable and mature in the clothes I was in. I was able to learn how to tie a tie, and a good way to style my hair to look professional while also making me feel comfortable. I also was surprised to see how much the outfit made me and my classmates look more smart and mature.

I faced some challenges when it came to trying to find the outfit. I didn't want to spend much money, but I also didn't want to look low budget. I was able to find a shirt that my dad used for formal occasions, and I decided to wear it, although it was a little big. I then found a tie and pants that my brother-in-law used for prom. They were a perfect match for me. I felt very happy after looking at the mirror and seeing how nice I looked.
