This is the overall structure of the desk. The design was made to give enough room for the legs and enough room to add shelves on the sides. I needed to make sure the top was wide enough to fit the motherboard and GPU, this wasn't an issue just something that I needed to factor into the size.
These are the walls all cut laying on the top of the desk to their corresponding sides.
These pieces of wood cut for the bottom 'legs' which are actually the area for the shelves.
The most difficult and tedious part to this entire project was applying wood filler. I had to do it a few times, it never looks the way you want and never blends correctly. It's one of those things that only I will notice, no one else will see it, but it will always annoy me.
Here are the bottom shelf spaces that are going to be holding up the desk.
This is the beginning of the outer walls being put onto the desk.
This is the desk before all of the hardware was installed. This angle shows the cut outs that were made for both cable management and needed computer pieces. The top left of the image the cutout for both fans and the wires can be seen as well as the section to hide all of the wires. At the front of the desk a little hole can be seen, it will be used to route the wires for the fans that will be put into the big rectangular cutout. The two smaller cutouts are for USB ports as well as a fan hub as there are 3 2 fan cutouts to keep the computer cool. Looking on the inner side of the desk there is an upper lip on the walls to hide the LEDs that can be seen in completed pictures.
(on the shelves in my room you can find my old Lego creations, I have been building Legos for as long as I can remember, just can't get rid of them)
This was definitely my favorite project. It was a lot of fun leaning the new skill of building a computer. It took a lot of hours reading and a lot of YouTube to make sure I had the right parts and put together the computer correctly, but it did come out great.
