AEDU 303 Test Construction/Analysis Project:
Artifact Description:
This project encouraged us to choose a chapter from our textbook and create a 10-question exam based on the topics covered in the chapter. We were expected to have 8 multiple-choice questions and 2 short answer questions. All of the questions in our quizzes had to be at the application level of Bloom’s Taxonomy. We then had to analyze all of our students results and collect all of the data. I then included what each student may need to work on and how I could change to better adapt to my class.
IPTS Connection:
The test construction/analysis project is connected to standard 7 because the standard performance indicators states “maintains useful and accurate records of student work and performance” (7M) and that is exactly what this project was all about. Analyzing the results of my quiz was incredibly interesting and made it simple to see how well each individual student is doing and which topics they need extra help on. Using Google Forms was very helpful as well because once I had all of the results, it could be put in a spreadsheet to be easily viewed.
What I Learned:
I learned that creating good multiple-choice questions is much harder than I originally though. Getting each question to a specific level of Bloom’s Taxonomy is quite difficult because you want your students to actually comprehend the information, not just memorize it and forget it right after the test. I found it interesting to see everyone’s responses and to decide how to improve each person’s grades and how to work with individuals so that they can reach their full potential. Even though this was not a real scenario and I do not actually have these people as students, I had an enjoyable time doing this project and it really made me look forward to my future as an educator.
