STEMentors

~ Our Philosophy~

In the spring of 2019, STEMentors was founded with the belief that STEM is something any child can enjoy, explore, and learn from. No child learns the same, which is why our hands-on programming allows for a great level of exploration and investigation. Many of the hands on activities we plan seem like "play" to the child, which keeps the students very engaged. Before we explain the science behind the experiment, we push the children to speculate and hypothesize on their own. It is important to us that each student feels like a "scientist," which can be achieved as we prompt the children to think critically. We teach new vocabulary, introduce concepts, and dive deep into topics the students have previous knowledge of.

However, we don't just teach science. Our goal is to inspire children and spark curiosity for them to carry both in and outside of the classroom. We build rapport with the children, getting to know each of them individually as more than just "students." We take the time to build relationships with the students, especially in our 1:1 program. We understand how important it is for children to have role models, and so, we become those role models.
