The Ontario College of Teachers has identified standards for the teaching profession.
Ethical standards include
Trust
Respect
Integrity
Care
Standards of teaching practice include
Ongoing professional learning
Commitment to students and student learning
Professional knowledge
Professional practice
Leadership in learning communities
My lesson plans included in this website display these standards. I have included a variety of active learning strategies and differentiate instruction including students research, group work, videos and hands-on labs to support students' different learning styles. In each lesson plan includes a section about the integration of differentiation instruction (DI) and equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI). It important for students to feel included and that they are expressed in the classroom. An example of this is including biomes from across the globe for the plants adaptation lesson and letting students choose the format that they would like to record the information in, for example, mind map, table chart, list, etc. I have also included Indigenous viewpoints on sustainability.
