This is what I do with my students. I just call their name and they know what they are doing wrong.

A nice point he makes is that the students are often better at explaining it because they learned it recently while he learned it so long ago he has a tough time relating to someone who doesn't understand it ("The Curse of Knowledge").
I've heard that sports prodigies (people who excel at sports and started early) often don't make for good coaches. While those who start relatively later are limited in how far they can go in comparison to people to start early..but they make for better coaches because they can more easily relate to people who have trouble learning.
