One-way ANOVA and follow-up procedures

Description: One-way ANOVA is used to test the relationship between a single independent variable and a single dependent measure. The dependent measure is assumed continuous, whereas the independent variable is categorical. The independent variable can include two or more levels. The model makes standard assumptions concerning independence of observations, normality, and homoskedasticity.

One-way ANOVA and post hoc tests using 'one-way ANOVA' route in SPSS 28 (Nov 2021): video , SPSS data , Powerpoint

This presentation reviews one-way ANOVA using SPSS version 28, which now includes effect size (eta-squared) and a confidence interval for eta-squared when running your analysis via the one-way ANOVA route (as opposed to GLM). I provide additional coverage of decision-making regarding the omnibus effect of the IV on the DV and discuss homogeneity tests and robust ANOVA and post hoc procedures.

One-way ANOVA with Tukey's post hoc tests via two routes in SPSS (June 2020): Powerpoint, SPSS example 1 data, SPSS example 2 data, SPSS example 3 data , Video demonstration (Powerpoint example 1)

[The Powerpoint also provides some coverage of robust tests alternatives to one-way ANOVA in SPSS, as well as post hoc alternatives - i.e., Tahmane's T2 and Games-Howell - when there is concern regarding heteroskedasticity in the data. It also includes some review of assumptions and their evaluation.]

Options for planned contrasts following one-way ANOVA in SPSS (June 2020): Powerpoint, SPSS example 1 data, video demonstration

[This presentation is an extension - or Part 2 - of the discussion in the presentation above on 'One-way ANOVA with Tukey's post hoc tests via two routes in SPSS'. In this presentation, I discuss two routes for generating planned contrasts in SPSS.]

More on how to generate and test planned contrasts using the /lmatrix subcommand in SPSS (February 2021): video , SPSS data , Powerpoint (on contrast coefficients)

One-way ANOVA in SPSS version 25: Powerpoint 1, Powerpoint 2 (new)

Managing problem in SPSS version 25 with Levene's test/Homogeneity test: video, SPSS data (The video covers a problem - https://developer.ibm.com/answers/questions/452772/unrecoverable-application-error-in-the-statistics-4/ - that can occur if you have not installed a "fix" - from IBM. It also provides a computational solution to obtaining Levene's test results)
