Definition

ANOVA: This term is short for analysis of variance. It is used when “More than two levels of the same variable being tested” (Salkind, 2017, p. 243). For instance, there may be three groups placed in three different categories. Grouping has one dimension (one group of people divided into three separate categories to be tested on one dependent variable). The test aims to look for a difference among all of the groups and measures variance due to differences between groups and within groups.
