Sprinkled throughout the Era sourcebooks, twice featured in Age of Rebellion, and once featured in Edge of the Empire are the Universal Specializations. "But GM, what is a Universal Specialization," I hear you cry. Don't worry, its actually quite simple. Regardless of Career, anyone and everyone can take a Universal Specialization. Say for example we're running a One-Shot in the Dawn of Rebellion Era. We might as during character creation that everyone takes the Padawan Survivor as well as their starting Specialization from their selected Career, regardless of system.
It is worth noting that we may turn down your decision to take a certain Unviersal Career if it is not inline with the canon of the established stories. For example, lets say we all were playing a long running game in the Collapse of the Republic Era, and we allowed people to be Death Watch Warriors from Mandalore. We would likely turn you down if your Species is not a Mandalorian Human, as in the canon, they were the only members of Death Watch.
