Jo Craddy (they/them) is an aspiring stage manager and musician with a particular interest in musical theatre and live music performance. Growing up on stage in various choirs, Jo has been lucky to perform in venues across Australia and internationally, and fell in love with the technical side of live performance while performing in their high school musicals.
In their time at QUT, Jo developed and stage managed 168 Hours, and worked on 2024's Unseen Threads (risk manager) and 2025's When The Rain Stops Falling (stage manager). They also assistant stage managed PIP Theatre's Charlotte's Web (2025) and volunteered at the 2023/24 Woodford Folk Festival in the streets stage management team. Jo is looking forward to completing a second internship in 2026.
Jo is also particularly passionate about making theatre accessible to those with sensory difficulties, including Autism. After graduating, they hope to work within accessibility for live performance organisations when not stage managing.
What She Taught Me
A mother’s love is like nothing else. She is there to raise you, to nurture you, to love you. But what happens when she’s no longer there?
Through the eyes of a stage manager, this short animation follows a single day in the chaos of theatre: the early mornings, the meticulous routines, the unseen labour. Beneath the surface, it is also a portrait of endurance, how the love and care given by a mother echo in every aspect of the day.
Alongside the animation, a scrapbook offers a glimpse into Jo’s own family history. These works weave together their personal and professional lives, blurring the line between the stage manager’s role and a child’s enduring memory.
What She Taught Me is a chronicle of grief and perseverance in the wake of great loss, but also of continuity. Love, once given, continues to shape us long after it’s gone.
