Fel Kong is an emerging vision technician with a background in audio and a strong interest in vision systems. Tinkering with technology to create new ideas and experiences is her passion and she is always looking to develop and push her skills.
Throughout her studies in QUT, Fel has taken on audio and vision roles but mainly focuses on vision. Aside from her studies, Fel has worked for companies and festivals including video technician for The Star Performing Arts Centre in Singapore, AV technician at Brisbane Powerhouse and audio crew for Brisbane Festival. She is currently completing an internship at Queensland Theatre Company under the video department on the show “Malacañang Made Us”.
Fel is always looking for opportunities to develop her technical skills and collaborate with creative professionals. She strives to expand her knowledge and experience new unknowns.
A Frame In Time
How many photos have you taken in your life? And how often do you look back at them? A Frame in Time is the answer to a sudden realisation of Fel’s. Having done many events but with no photos to look back to, this piece encourages the audience to slow down, be present, and appreciate what’s around you to capture that moment.
Using two cameras and a projector, this system was built using Isadora software to resemble the concept of a photobooth. Each picture taken is a reminder that memories are not just meant to be documented, but also to be experienced. This piece explores the tangible act of capturing a memory.
The audience is encouraged to cycle through the unique photo frames inspired by Fel’s journey. In doing so, the act of taking a photo becomes a celebration of presence rather than mere documentation. When we look back at these photos, we are reminded not only of how we appeared, but of who we were in that instant, what we felt, who we were with, and the atmosphere that surrounded us.
