Standing By 2025

Standing By celebrates the personality and creativity of this year’s Technical Production cohort at Queensland University of Technology, spotlighting their talents through a dynamic exhibition of disciplines and interests. We look forward to sharing a unique look into our practice before embarking into the professional world.

Our showcase is open for three days only running at the following times:

Tuesday 4th November, 10:00am - 4:00pm (Opening Event 10:00am - 11:00am)
Wednesday 5th November, 10:00am - 8:30pm (Sensory Hour 10:00am - 11:00am)
Thursday 6th November, 10:00am - 4:00pm (Sensory Hour 10:00am - 11:00am)

We will have members of the cohort stationed throughout the venue from opening to close. As you move through the space, if you have any questions around an exhibit please feel free to ask questions or contact the practitioner through their contact details.

What is Technical Production?

Technical Production encompasses stage management, lighting, sound, multimedia production, costume, props, stage mechanics, scenery installation, and theatre design in live works of entertainment. Through a three-year course, we have learnt professional skills and in depth exploration of various production roles. Within stage management we experiment with various genres including dance, music, orchestras, circus, opera, and musical theatre - applying this knowledge through in house productions and cross-degree performances. Within technical roles we have progressed through live performances, tour management, festival sites, logistic management, and technical direction. We have been honoured to learn under, and collaborate with, various industry professionals across disciplines to aid in our creative development.

Standing By 2025 celebrates the personality and creativity of this year’s Technical Production cohort at QUT, spotlighting our diverse talents through a dynamic exhibition of disciplines and interests. As part of SoCA Showcase 2025, the exhibition highlights the skill, growth and innovation of twelve graduating students from the Bachelor of Fine Arts (Technical Production).

The space is divided into individual showcases, each designed and created by a member of the cohort to reflect their unique areas of interest and expertise. A didactic is displayed alongside each piece, offering further insight into the inspiration and process behind the work.

There is no set order to experience this exhibition. You are invited to explore freely and engage with whichever pieces capture your attention. Several showcases include interactive elements and a map is provided to guide you toward these experiences.

Standing By 2025 is a celebration of collaboration, creativity, and technical excellence, an opportunity to step behind the scenes and experience the artistry that will power the future of live performance.
