In San Silvestre, our care and concern for each student is primary and fundamental. The main purpose of the “Student Care” area is to focus on and help develop the WHOLE person, encouraging each student to develop in a positive and appropriate manner, with mature attitudes and strong values.
At San Silvestre, we use the British PSHE programme as the basis for our Pastoral Curriculum, aimed at all our sections. This programme aims to provide our pupils with the knowledge and skills necessary to maintain their emotional, physical and social well-being, as well as to prepare them for their personal and professional lives.
Although all teachers are responsible for the care and monitoring of students, in order to ensure their general well-being is attended to, our team of Psychologists, Form Teachers and Year Level Coordinators play a more intensive and focused role in this respect.
In order to ensure continuous care, the Form Teachers liaise with their Year Level Coordinator, and Year Level Coordinators work closely with the year level psychologists and the Assistant Head - Student Care.
In this way, we ensure strong channels of communication and Form Teachers the support they need to monitor the progress and development of their students.
At the school we promote an educational environment to enable all our students to learn at their own pace, supported by materials and approaches that help them progress towards their goals.
The Learning Support Department, in the three sections, works closely with teachers, parents and external professionals (if applicable) so that we can fully understand and identify the most effective strategies to support each girl and ensure that they have exactly what they need academically and emotionally to navigate their learning journey tailored to their needs. Our educational community is committed to respecting and accompanying all students in an inclusive manner on an ongoing basis.
Upon referral to Learning Support, a comprehensive system of support is planned which reflects the ‘Team Around the Child’ approach, using observation, formative and summative assessment and a suite of other tools to discern the exact needs of the individual.
The school has a heated swimming pool in the Sports Centre at the main school.
Early Years students have swimming lessons once a week in Bimester One and Bimester Four.
Primary, Middle and Senior School pupils have swimming lessons for one term of the year as part of Physical Education.

The following sports are available to all pupils from Primary upwards as part of the after school activities offered by the school in the afternoons. The sports played at San Silvestre are: Swimming, volleyball, basketball, football, hockey, softball, athletics, table tennis and gymnastics (up to Form II only).

San Silvestre offers an instrumental music program of private lessons to all students from Grade 1 to Form V. Students who are interested in learning to play an instrument can choose to enroll in individual lessons with a specialist music teacher. Lessons take place during the school day on a rotating timetable.

From Reception, parents can choose for their daughters whether to opt for "Catholic Religion" classes or "World Views, Values and Traditions" classes. Both programmes will contribute to the holistic development of the pupils and help them to better understand the world in which they live.
Families that are interested in having their daughters complete their First Communion at the end of the 3rd Grade should keep in mind the following:
The Catholic Religion course must be followed in Grade 1, Grade 2 and Grade 3.
Students must have one hour of catechesis per week in Grade 3.
The preparation for the sacrament of Confirmation is organised by a group of Form IV parents who select the team that will prepare the students for the sacrament, and in coordination with the Senior School management, the date of the Confirmation Ceremony and the date of the Spiritual Retreat will be decided. The school will provide a space on the school premises for the preparation sessions.
