We have a crisis at the Southern Border where we find that many immigrants cross our borders illegally. It is not their fault. Our immigration processes take far too long and allow far too little people into our great country. America was founded on immigrants and every added person we bring into our country makes us that much better. My mother and father were immigrants who endured our grueling immigration processes to become citizens. They were the lucky ones. Many of their friends and family wait for years on end to get their green cards and their visas approved. This must change. However, we can not allow immigrants to disrespect our laws by coming into this country illegally, and we must empower ICE and border security to protect our borders far more efficiently. For that reason, I proposed the Immigration Reform Act of 2019, a comprehensive plan to increase our numbers of legal immigration, while appropriating the necessary funds to the Department of Border Security. A secure nation is one with secure borders, and we must do all we can to ensure this occurs.
