My entire career in the Chesapeake has been centered around the core issue of education. As someone educated in the public school system of the Chesapeake, I can tell you that it leaves much to be desired. Our schools are far from the best in the Union, and we must make improvements on this field. Our teachers are underpaid, our poor are uneducated, and our students are unprepared. As author of the Chesapeake Education Revitalization Act, I strongly support this piece of legislation and look to implement it in the coming few weeks within the Chesapeake. The central part of this legislation is my commitment to the idea of school vouchers, that has been a source of much debate in the Chesapeake. Once a bipartisan issue, the Bull Moose government had turned their backs on the people by rejecting this legislation. School vouchers allow our impoverished and our underprivileged the chance to obtain a better education at our many private schools across the state. Let's face facts. No matter how much the public school system improves, it lacks the efficiency of a private school system. These vouchers allow these kids to truly obtain a first class education within the Chesapeake.
