The High Achievers are well into their 2025 Summer Apprenticeships. A few High Achievers participate in additional summer leadership opportunities with other entities including the 21st Century Leaders Summer Leadership Institutes.
The month of July is reserved for college tours and field trips.
The High Achievers visited Central Georgia Technical College for a tour of the Macon, GA campus.
The HAP visits Mercer University in Macon, GA.
The HAP enjoyed the field trip to Six Flags Over GA.
The High Achievers were intrigued and filled with historical information during the visit to the Tubman Museum.

Congratulations to our 2025 Outstanding OST Professional Award Winner, Kenneth W. Daniels (Georgia College & State University High Achievers Program)!
This award is awarded to an outstanding afterschool or youth development professional whose work reflects understanding of the developmental needs of children, youth and families, continued professional development, and the highest standards outlined by the Georgia Youth Development and Afterschool Quality Standards may be nominated for this award.
Afterschool and youth development professionals including direct service staff, school-age classroom teachers and others who have at least two years of experience in the afterschool and youth development field are eligible for the Outstanding OST Professional Award. The individuals nominated must be an outstanding member of the profession whose work exemplifies out-of-school time best practices.
Milledgeville Police Department Detective Marquita Driskell visited the High Achievers and discussed the importance of "Making Important Decisions".
Dr. Michael Snowden, the GCSU Executive Director of the Office of Inclusion and Belonging, visited the High Achievers as a part of our Speakers Bureau. He discussed his upbringing, life challenges and decisions, and his educational and career choices.
On August 23, 2025, the High Achievers Program attended the GUIDE, Inc. (Gwinnett United In Drug Education, Inc.) 2025 Youth Summit in Macon, GA. We experienced dynamic speakers, multiple message of reaffirmation, and support and incentives to being a prosperous, attentive, and vigilant individual in our society. Sometimes selfishness is acceptable - put YOURSELF 1st!!!

The High Achievers played Disc Golf as part of the program's Physical Activity component!
The High Achievers had a S.T.E.A.M. session with the GCSU Academic Outreach Team. Participants hand-crafted parachutes and then released them from a higher elevation to test their productiveness.
The High Achievers Program, as part of Community Engagement, donated canned goods to the Midway Hills Primary School's Food Pantry. The HAP doesn't charge any student/family for any activity participation; however, participants are asked to bring-in two to three canned goods for field trips and college tours - which we then donate to worthy community causes.

The High Achievers enjoy a show with Mark The Magic Man. The theme was to increase the audience members self-esteem through magic. The participants even learned several magic tricks to enjoy with their family and friends.

The High Achievers Program volunteer, Izzy Galysh, GCSU Public Health major, facilitated the lesson with the High Achievers. They learned about marketing as they engaged in the "Snake Oil" activity. Participants were grouped and developed a unique product which they then had to present to all that were present.
