The GCSU Academic Outreach team explored "Microscopic Observations" with the High Achievers. The group brought in microscopes and assisted the participants by showing them how they are operated and utilized. The participants were split into two groups. Each group examined specimens of leaves, bugs, blood tissue, plant cells, and fly heads. The participants were well-engaged and enjoyed the activity.

The High Achievers toured the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, Georgia.

The High Achievers completed their second lesson with Exchange Bank. They learned to: 1) Analyze and compare different types of deposit accounts and features, 2) Understand the benefits of using a federally insured institution, 3) What to expect when you open your first account, and 4) Understanding the cost of overdrafts and fees.
Lights On Afterschool is the only nationwide event celebrating afterschool programs and their important role in the lives of children, families and communities. The effort has become a hallmark of the afterschool movement and generates media coverage across the country each year. The Afterschool Alliance organizes Lights On Afterschool to draw attention to the many ways afterschool programs support students by offering them opportunities to learn new things.
The High Achievers Program has celebrated this momentous event since 2004! They collaborated with the Y.E.S. Program at Oak Hill Middle School.

In a continuation of the High Achievers Program Podcasting Project, the HAP collaborates with Tremaine Neal, owner and operator of Tree Top Training, to prepare for and develop a podcast to celebrate and publicize the benefits of out-of-school activities (i.e. afterschool programs, sports, clubs).
