Cuesta College
Course Syllabus
¡Bienvenidos!
Hola....Me llamo Maestra McIver y yo soy su profesora para la clase de español 201. Welcome to the courses! I am really excited to be with you as you begin your language learning journey. Learning a language can be both exciting and overwhelming, so just remember to be patient with yourself. Fluency doesn't happen overnight. The goal of this course is to learn to communicate on a very basic level while exploring some of the exciting aspects of hispanic culture.
I can't wait to learn about you and to see you progress along your language learning journey......Hasta pronto!
Maestra McIver
How does this course work?
Spanish 201 is a fully online, asynchronous language course that will introduce you to the Spanish language and cultures of the Spanish speaking world. While some online courses are "self-paced," this course follows a weekly schedule with two due dates per week. This means that you will be interacting with me and with your classmates several times a week, although we will likely all be online at different times!
Assignments are due each Sunday and Thursday by 11:59 p.m.
There are no class meetings required, but you will complete weekly synchornous partner chats during the semester. While coordinating schedules can be challenging, this is great practice for you and necessary to learn the language.
I will hold weekly virtual office hours on Tuesdays from 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm PST. You can use this ZOOM link on our Canvas class page to connect.
You will use an internet based program (Connect) to complete most of the homeworkwork for the course. This program comes with an interactive eBook and access to a robust digital platform. This course has FIRST DAY ACCESS, so you only need to click on the McGraw Hill Link on the Canvas Navigation menu to get access. Be sure not to create multiple accounts, as you will be charged as such.
As a 5 unit course, you should plan to spend 12-15 hours per week working on this course.
You will be interacting with your peers and your instructor via video, audio, and group activities.
