공간을 짓다

<공간지은>은 풍납동 골목에 위치하고 있으며, 이진영 작가가 운영하는 아티스트런 공간입니다. '작가와 함께 공간을 짓는다'의 의미로 2022년에 개관했으며, 일상에서 기본적으로 중요한 부분을 차지하는 의식주를 짓는 것처럼, 작가와 함께 전시공간을 지어가며 풍납동 골목에서 잔잔한 예술의 물결이 전해지기를 기대합니다. 골목에서 마주하는 예술이 지역과의 소통으로 이어지고 점진적으로는 지역 예술문화의 거점 공간으로 자리할 수 있도록 최선을 다하고 있습니다.

전시는 2주동안 진행되며, 전체 전시와 윈도우전시로 구성하여 다양한 시선으로 작품을 선보입니다. 윈도우 전시는 내부전시가 종료된 후 갤러리 외부에서 감상할 수 있도록 하는 전시방식으로 저녁시간까지 조명을 켜두어 어두운 골목을 밝히고 안전한 골목길 형성을 목적으로 하고 있습니다.

'작업실의 반쪽을 리뉴얼해서 오고가는 지역주민들에게 우연히 마주치는 예술공간으로 다가가면 어떨까하는 생각에서 2022년 3월 22일 작은 갤러리를 오픈했습니다.

문화재 발굴로 개발이 제한되어 있는 이곳은 매일 아침 산책나오는 어린이집 꼬마들, 등하교길의 초중고등학생들부터 지팡이를 짚은 노인분들까지.. 창문 밖은 고요한 풍경 속에서 정말 분주하게 사람들이 오가는 곳이었습니다.

코로나시대에 지역 주민들과 창문으로나마 소통하고자했던 취지로 2021년 윈도우 전시를 먼저 시작했으며, 앞으로 풍납동의 예술문화거점으로 자리잡고자 다양한 분야에서 활동중인 예술가들을 섭외하고자 합니다.

밥을 짓고 집을 짓는 것처럼 공간을 짓는다의 의미의 '공간지은'은 앞으로 작가들과 풍납동 골목예술 공간을 지어가며 즐거운 일들이 생기기를 기대해봅니다.'  ( 2022년 3월 22일 개관 전시를 하며 .. 글/이진영 )

Building a Space 

"SPACEJIEUN" is a unique artist-run space located in the alleys of Pungnap-dong, operated by artist Jinyoung Lee. Opened in 2022, it carries the meaning of "building a space together with the artist." Just as we build the essential elements of daily life—food, clothing, and shelter—this space aims to create an exhibition environment together with the artist, with the hope that it will bring a quiet wave of art to the alleyways of Pungnap-dong. The goal is for art encountered in the alley to lead to communication with the community, and gradually to establish itself as a hub for local arts and culture.

Exhibitions run for two weeks, with a combination of a main exhibition and a window exhibition that presents works from various perspectives. The window exhibition is a display method where, after the internal exhibition is over, the works can be viewed from the outside of the gallery. The lights are kept on until the evening, brightening the dark alley and creating a safer alleyway.

<Message from the Director>

"I renovated half of my studio and opened a small gallery on March 22, 2022, with the thought that it might be nice to create an art space that local residents could unexpectedly encounter while passing by. This area, restricted in development due to the discovery of cultural heritage, is a place where, every morning, children from nearby daycare centers, schoolchildren on their way to and from school, and even elderly people with walking sticks pass by. Outside the window, amidst a quiet landscape, it was a place bustling with people.

In the era of COVID-19, I started the window exhibition in 2021 with the intention of communicating with local residents, even if only through the window. Moving forward, I aim to recruit artists from various fields and establish this place as an artistic and cultural hub for Pungnap-dong.

Just as we cook food and build homes, 'SPACEJIEUN' represents the idea of building a space. I look forward to creating a joyful and vibrant art space in the alleys of Pungnap-dong together with the artists."
