공간을 짓다

<공간지은>은 풍납동 골목에 위치하고 있으며, 이진영 작가가 운영하는 아티스트런 공간입니다. 작가로서 작업의 연장선에서 확장을 시도하며 '작가와 함께 공간을 짓는다'의 의미로 2022년에 개관했습니다. 골목에서 마주하는 예술이 지역과의 소통으로 이어지고 점진적으로는 지역 예술문화의 거점 공간으로 자리할 수 있도록 최선을 다하고 있습니다. 일상에서 의식주를 짓는 것처럼, 작가와 함께 예술 공간을 지어가며 풍납동 골목에서 잔잔한 예술의 물결이 전해지기를 기대합니다. 

전시는 2주동안 진행되며, 전체 전시와 윈도우전시로 구성하여 다양한 시선으로 작품을 선보입니다. 윈도우 전시는 내부전시가 종료된 후 갤러리 외부에서 감상할 수 있도록 하는 전시방식으로, 예술이 지역의 안전한 골목길과 밝은 거리 문화를 만들어가는 기반이 되도록 하는 데에 목적을 두고 있습니다.

“문화재 발굴로 개발이 제한되어 있는 이곳은 매일 아침 산책나오는 어린이집 꼬마들, 등하교길의 초,중,고등학생들부터 지팡이를 짚은 노인분들까지.. 작업실의 창 밖은 고요한 풍경 속에서 정말 분주하게 사람들이 오가는 곳이었습니다.

코로나 시기에 작업실의 반쪽을 리뉴얼해서 오고가는 지역주민들에게 우연히 마주치는 예술공간으로 다가가면 어떨까하는 생각에서 2022년 3월 22일 작은 전시공간을 오픈하고, 풍납동의 예술문화 거점으로 자리잡고자 다양한 분야에서 활동중인 예술가들을 섭외하고자 합니다. '공간지은'은 앞으로  작가들과 풍납동 골목예술 공간을 지어가며 즐거운 일들이 생기기를 기대해봅니다.'  ( 2022년 3월 22일 개관 전시를 하며 .. 글/이진영 )

<SPACEJIEUN> is an artist-run space located in a small alley of Pungnap-dong, operated by artist Lee Jinyoung. Conceived as an extension of the artist’s own practice, the space opened in 2022 under the idea of “building a space together with artists.” By encountering art in the neighborhood, the space aims to foster communication with the local community and, over time, establish itself as a cultural hub for local arts. Just as clothing, food, and shelter form the essential foundations of everyday life, <SPACEJIEUN> seeks to build an art space together with artists, hoping to send gentle waves of art through the alleys of Pungnap-dong. 

Exhibitions are held over a two-week period and consist of both an indoor exhibition and a window exhibition, presenting artworks from multiple perspectives. The window exhibition continues after the indoor exhibition ends and can be viewed from outside the gallery. This exhibition format is intended to support the creation of safe alleyways and a bright street culture, where art becomes part of the everyday landscape of the community.

“Due to restrictions on development caused by ongoing cultural heritage excavations, this area maintains a quiet atmosphere. Yet every day, the scene outside the window is unexpectedly busy—with kindergarten children out on morning walks, elementary, middle, and high school students on their way to and from school, and elderly residents walking with canes.During the COVID-19 period, I renovated half of my studio and began to imagine: what if this could become an art space that local residents encounter by chance as they pass by? With that thought, I opened a small gallery on March 22, 2022. Aspiring to become a cultural and artistic hub of Pungnap-dong, I hope to invite artists actively working across diverse fields.
