The Southern Association for Ancient Philosophy meeting will take place in Cambridge on the agreed dates of 12 and 13 September 2022.
All talks will be held in the Faculty of Classics, and online participation will also be possible.
While maintaining the usual SAAP format, the meeting this year will have a ’theme’, namely celebrating the work of Myles Burnyeat in a number of the talks and presentations. The provisional programme includes:
- Andreas Anagnostopoulos (Munich) on Aristotle’s Metaphysics (tbc.)
- Carol Atack and Malcolm Schofield (Cambridge) on editing the Explorations in Ancient and Modern Philosophy
- Lea Cantor (Oxford) tbc. (postgraduate student)
- Matthew Duncombe (Nottingham) on Euclides, Megaricism and Plato’s Theaetetus
- Shaul Tor (KCL) on ‘Burnyeat, Frede and Sextus’
- Nathasja Van Luijn (Cambridge) tbc. (postgraduate student)
Monday’s afternoon session will be followed by a reception hosted by Myles Burnyeat’s family and a book launch marking the publication of the latest volume of the Explorations in Ancient and Modern Philosophy.
A buffet dinner will be available following the reception and launch, so we are not making separate arrangements for a college dinner.
Practicalities:
As discussed in the final meetings before the pandemic, we will not be reserving rooms in a particular college: participants who require accommodation may book rooms in a college of their choice via this website: http://www.cambridgerooms.co.uk or https://www.universityrooms.com/en-GB/city/Cambridge/home (they both link to the same page)
We will soon be circulating details of a separate portal where participants can register and book for meals, together with the updated programme.
Best wishes,
James, Gábor, Myrto
