I have been involved in Alden's W-STEM group since my freshman year.
After joining, my plans for after high school completely evolved from wanting to become a special education teacher to having my heart set on architecture.
With the group being relatively small, I have been able to play a key role in introducing girls my age to STEM careers.
2024 Women in Manufacturing Summit
This year, Alden's W-STEM group attended the Women in Manufacturing Summit in Rochester for the first time.
At the event, we attended a panel discussion of influential women in manufacturing to gain insight.
Additionally, we networked with women on the panel to invite them to participate in our upcoming panel at Technical Career Day.
2024 IMPACT Expo
Each year, Alden High School hosts Technical Career Day, which includes a career fair in the gym and panel discussions in various classrooms throughout the day.
As part of the W-STEM group, I played a key role in gathering women from different STEM fields to join our panel.
Additionally, I facilitated the discussion with another W-STEM group member by asking questions and prompting the audience to ask their own.

2023 IMPACT Expo
The 2023 IMPACT Expo, which was held at Buffalo State University, was an opportunity for students from any school to present, lead panel discussions, and view the work of other students.
Alden's W-STEM group gathered panelists from all areas of STEM fields including architects, medical researchers, and even college-level STEM students.
