Bulldog Manufacturing is the leading student-run business in Western New York.
We operate out of Alden High School, where we spend 80 minutes a day working our own individual jobs.
Our departments include business, marketing, consumer products, sales, CAD, and manufacturing.
Students are often exposed to opportunities like touring professional manufacturing facilities and networking with potential future employers.
Students receive a scholarship for every full school year of the course they complete, at an amount determined by the company's profits.
As part of the consumer products department, I:
Create designs for our products using Adobe Illustrator
Operate our Epilog laser engravers.
Through Bulldog Manufacturing, I:
Gained real-world experience by developing new products and working with customers
Developed my ability to advocate for myself and set reasonable timelines
Applied the skills I've learned to a part-time job working with the same machines
In the fall of 2023, I visited Pfannenberg, a company that manufactures refrigeration units, with a few other members of Bulldog Manufacturing to learn more about what they do and discuss a possible order from them.
In January of 2024, I went with members of Bulldog Manufacturing to Integer to see a demonstration of how a product we made for them was used and learn about improvements to be made in the future.
In October of 2024, I visited both Viant Medical and Arch Tooling to learn about their companies, and to compare the real-world manufacturing industry to Bulldog Manufacturing.
