As one of four student members of Alden's BSAT (Building Student Achievement Team) and two student members of Alden's DSAT (District Student Achievement Team), my job is to represent the interests of students in meetings with members of the community and the faculty of our school.
One of DSAT's most current initiatives is culminating our work with Dr. Brown and the Portrait of and Alden Learner into a single thorough document. The Strategic Plan outlines how our learnings will be implemented into our district from 2024 to 2027.
Goals of the plan are sorted into three categories:
Teaching and Learning
Student Experience
Community Engagement
Since my sophomore year, DSAT has been working to develop a visual representation of what Alden CSD hopes to achieve in every grade level, regardless of the building. The three main values, which make up our vision statement, include:
Educate
Embrace
Empower
I have had the opportunity to watch it evolve into the final result, which will be implemented into classrooms and the community during the 2024-2025 school year.
One of the most significant DSAT projects that I've been a part of is the collaboration with Dr. Luvelle Brown to implement the ideas of his book, Culture of Love, into our school. This includes:
Learning about what a "Culture of Love" in our district includes
Creating the visual "Portrait of an Alden Learner" (see above)
Reconstructing our district's vision and mission statements
