Finally, the good guys catch a break as one of Dr. Robotnik's trans-dimensional experiments sends the madman into "The Void" and gives Uncle Chuck back his free will! But an even more hazardous threat looms on the horizon: Snively!
The Knothole Freedom Fighters arrive at a new amusement park on the Floating Island. Sonic the Hedgehog notices that every Freedom Fighter they've ever met is here, including Knuckles. Knuckles grumpily protests against being called a Freedom Fighter and tells them he didn't invite them. The manager of the park, Renfield T. Rodent, says he invited them and welcomes them all to the park. The rodent eagerly encourages them to head into the Hall of Mirrors.

Super Sonic vs. Hyper Knuckles (1996)
Princess Sally calls Sonic to inform him that Knuckles is roaming around the edge of the Great Forest. Sonic, surprised that Knuckles would leave the Floating Island, assumes Knuckles is up to no good. Sally shows Sonic that Knuckles is heading towards Robotropolis. Thinking that Knuckles is trying to cut a deal with Robotnik, Sonic heads off to stop him.

Deep within Angel Island, Knuckles the Echidna is invading a hidden underground temple. He confronts an unavoidable series of booby traps, but manages to evade every one of them, despite setting off every trap. Brushing himself off after a close call, Knuckles begins to muse about how he got here.
Having been banished to the Sandopolis Zone by Enerjak, Knuckles and Archimedes start making their way out of the desert, only to be attacked by a giant sandcrawler, larger than any Knuckles has ever seen.
Knuckles finds himself facing off against the brainwashed members of the Chaotix, who warn him that Enerjak will prevail regardless of whether he chooses to surrender or fight.

Snively instead smashes the scrambler and hooks a power cable to a large console, allowing the Freedom Fighters to hear Robotnik's newest plan.
Knuckles the Echidna Issue 1 (1997)
A ruthless army of technologically-enhanced echidnas named the Dark Legion escape from the Twilight Zone after their banishment from Mobius Prime by Steppenwolf, the founder of the Brotherhood of Guardians. They instantly begin wreaking havoc on the Floating Island, which alarms Knuckles, who doesn't know much about the history of the Dark Legion, and the fire ant Archimedes. With the help of the Chaotix, Knuckles and Archimedes attempt to stop the invasion.
