Global Group Project
Project Description
This project entails the use of digital technology in Mexico and Nigeria. It focuses on the similarities and differences between the two countries. For analysis, Population, demographics, language, tech culture, climate, and digital divide were used.
The project has two parts: an individual part and a team part. In the individual part, my partner worked on Mexico while I worked on Nigeria using the parameters listed above. We brought our findings together and we worked collaboratively for the team part where we identified areas of similarities and differences between the two countries.
I chose Nigeria because I was born there and spent the most part of my life there before coming over to the United States. One important artifact of Nigeria is the national flag below.
The Nigerian Flag
The flag above (photo courtesy of freepik.com) was designed by Michael Taiwo Akinkumi in 1958. At the time, he was a student of electrical engineering at Norwood Technical College in London, and he entered the competition to design a national flag for the country that was about to gain independence from the British. Eventually, the judges selected his design, and it was adopted on October 1, 1960, when the country gained independence.Â
It is a vertical bicolor (green and white) in a triband (green-white-green). The green represents the nation's rich natural resources while the white represents peace and unity.
Lessons Learned
This project taught me more about my country of origin, Nigeria, and Mexico including the number of users of digital technology.
I also learned about collaborating with someone else on a cloud document. There was a bunch of back and forth emailing. I created slides of tables for us to input our findings about our respective countries. After filling out the tables, my partner thought it was the finished product. I gave the information that it was time to design what we had, and there was calm. Overall, it was a wonderful experience sharing ideas with someone else to make our product better than anyone of us alone would have made it.
