Assessment

This module will guide you through the process of creating Assessment resources within Wayground, the most popular resource type in Wayground. This module will cover the following key areas:

Create a new Assessment activity in Wayground using multiple methods.
Identify and utilize the various question types available for assessments.
Successfully add, edit, and manage questions within an activity.
Establish and configure all activity settings for an Assessment.
How to preview and publish your activity.

For each objective below, review the included material. When done, proceed to the Module Quiz linked at the bottom of this page.

Objective 2.1 Create an Assessment

Step 1: Create an Assessment

Option 1

From the Home area click Create
Select Assessment

From the My Library area click the +Add resource dropdown
Select Assessment

Step 2: Choose a Creation Method

Import worksheets/questions

Extract questions from documents from Drive or your device
Paste questions text from anywhere
Import a Google Form from Drive
Bulk import questions from a spreadsheet

Generate with AI

Generate questions from study materials like presentations and documents uploaded from your Drive or device
Type a quiz topic or paste content in the Text/Prompt field
Enter a URL to generate questions from a website or online article
Paste a YouTube video link to generate questions based on a video

Create from scratch

Search questions from quizzes made by other teachers
Select a question type to start adding questions

Regardless of the method you select, you will see the option to Start from import worksheets, Generate with AI, or Create from scratch on the left hand side.

Objective 2.2 Identify Available Question Types

Question Types

Click on the "Wayground Question Types" tile to advance through a slideshow to learn about available question types. For each question type you'll see:

a brief description of how the question type functions
a visual that demonstrates the functionality and appearance of the question type
a description of the grading options available

Please note that Wayground Basic accounts povide limited access to question types.

Objective 2.3 Add, Edit, and Manage Questions

Add Questions

Regardless of the creation method used, you have the ability to add questions to any activity. This can be done manually, by pulling questions from the Wayground Library, or by using Wayground's AI assistant to generate related questions. In this video I will show you various ways of adding questions.

Edit Questions Manually

You will notice that each question has an Edit button. This allows you to alter questions and answer choices, update the question type, and add media such as an image or video to reference. You can also tag standards to a question.

Use AI Actions to Adjust Questions

Besides manually editing questions, you can use AI actions to apply enhancements on a question by question basis, or use AI actions to transform the activity as a whole. In this video I'll discuss you how you can:

- convert your question/s to a real world scenario
- add answer explanations
- make activities more engaging by using features like thematic narrative, add my student's name, and make it fun.

Manage Questions

There are other management options besides what was covered in the previous video. Besides editing a question you delete unneeded or redundant questions and reorder questions to improve the flow of the assessment. I'll also show you how to update the point value for a question as well as the amount of time a student will have to answer the question when accessing the activity, which can be done on a question by question basis or applied to all questions in bulk.

Objective 2.5 Preview and Publish Your Assessment

Access, Preview, and Publish

In this video I will show you where to find the resource you created, how to preview it, and then publish it, which is required if you want to be able to share it with your students. Regardless of which resource type you create (assessment, presentation, video, passage, flashcards), this process is the same.
