How it all began!
USS Simon Bolivar, SSBN 641
Graduated from the US Naval Academy in 1976 and was subsequently commissioned as an Ensign in the United States Navy.
1976-1977 – Navy Nuclear power school and Prototype training
1978 – Reported on board the USS Simon Bolivar, SSBN 641 Blue Crew
(ABOVE)
1978-1979 – As an engineering officer took the boat through the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as part of a conversion of the ballistic missile systems
1980 – Qualified as Chief Nuclear Engineer – USN (and yes, I do have my own ADM Rickover stories!)
Summer of 1981 – left active duty and transferred to reserves having completed 4 strategic deterrent patrols as well as the shipyard duty
1985 – Promoted to Commander (CDR) in USN Reserves
