Lush vegetation, with complete decomposition and recycling nutrients, like we know today, flourished until hit my an asteroid. While the dinosaurs died out, and the continents drifted apart taking wiht them new evolved soil creatures, which were to adapt to the changed conditions, perhaps the biggest threat to soi was yet to come.
