Better Tomorrow 2025 obligates us to source and promote sustainable equipment and supplies while working to reduce organic and inorganic waste in the countries and at the client sites where we operate.
Through a Global Sustainable Supply Chain Code of Conduct, suppliers are required to engage in sustainable practices, including reducing packaging, using recycled materials and reusing and/or remanufacturing. Purchasing products that incorporate these features supports our global waste- reduction efforts.
Continuously reviewing the lists of authorized products and suppliers ensures they incorporate sustainability criteria. Approved product and vendor lists are communicated to the countries where we operate to ensure the use of sustainable detergents, paper and disposables.
Over 90% of client sites have implemented equipment and processes to reduce the volume of organic waste.
Each year, the “WasteLESS Week” five-day campaign empowers clients and consumers to waste less and, ultimately, improve quality of life for everyone. Through demonstrations, activities and social media, knowledge is shared that makes it easier for people to waste less at thousands of sites in over 80 countries. Thanks to WasteLESS Week, many sites and clients have started their own waste reduction programs for food, water, paper and energy.
For example, GE Power saved $100,000 in the first year of taking ownership of their recycling program through the following initiatives:
Leveraged better haul rate by switching providers
Installed a “crusher/compactor” to minimize amount of wasted airspace in opentop containers
Modified vendor’s daily hauls and implemented a three-day a week pickup schedule to reduce fees associated with trip charges when there wasn’t any material to haul
Applied recycling refunds generated from site decommissioning activities back to waste cost center to offset monthly invoices
