In 2022, the CIE SoCal chapter regained traction and began to conduct meetings with much greater frequency. Some important highlights include the hosting of the important Asian American Engineer of the Year Award and Conference (AAEOY) by the CIE's SoCal chapter in Los Angeles, California on August 5 & 6, the Christmas holiday gathering, as well as the election of the new club President - Dr. Wen Cheng for service.

AAEOY 

The 2022 Asian American Engineer of the Year Award and Conference (AAEOY) was hosted by CIE/USA Southern California chapter on August 5th-6th, 2022 in Los Angeles, California. Sixteen exceptional engineers, scientists, and corporate leaders of Asian heritage from various parts of the U.S. were honored for their remarkable professional achievements and dedication to public service. Their hard work and significant contributions have made a profound impact on their respective fields. The Distinguished Leadership in Science and Technology Awards were given to Dr. Lisa Su (chair and chief executive officer of AMD) and Dr. Eugene L. Tu (center director at NASA’s Ames Research Center in California’s Silicon Valley). Additionally, the Executive of the Year, Engineer of the Year, and Most Promising Engineer of the Year awards were given to fourteen outstanding engineers, scientists, and leaders. In addition to the prestigious AAEOY Award Ceremony, the two-day gathering featured a variety of activities and events. This included a technical and cultural tour (SpaceX and So-Fi Stadium Tours), and an Executive/Leadership forum. A pre-award VIP dinner was a highlight, followed by an engaging Technical Symposium and a luncheon featuring a keynote speech. The event concluded with a VIP reception and the much-anticipated AAEOY Award Ceremony and Banquet, making the two-day occasion both informative and celebratory. Christmas Celebration Event CIE/USA SoCal chapter 

In our Christmas ceremony, we not only celebrated the holiday season and achievements of the chapter but also welcomed our new leader, Dr. Cheng, who stepped up to guide our CIE/USA SoCal chapter towards further growth. The event was also a platform to motivate our younger generation to consider a future in engineering. By giving them special gifts, we hoped to inspire them and demonstrate how fascinating this field can be. A key feature of this event was to inspire the next generation of engineers. As we continue our journey, we're excited to see how these moments will shape the future of our chapter.
