A Brief History of the Chinese Institute of Engineers So-Cal Chapter

On behalf of the CIE-USA/Southern California Chapter (CIE-SOCAL), I would like to cordially welcome you as our newest member.  CIE-SOCAL is a non-profit professional organization for Chinese-Americans, as well as other Asian Americans, engineers and scientists or their supporters.  The main objectives of CIE-SOCAL is to promote communication among all engineers and scientists who are interested in the well being of the engineering community in Southern California region and to make contributions to their communities.  

In 2009, under the leadership of our former chapter President Dr. Tony Torng, CIE-SOCAL was formed to promote Chinese Institute of Engineers-USA (CIE-USA) mission (www.cie-usa.org ) within the southern California region.  Through application and approval process at the CIE-USA national council in February 2010, CIE-SOCAL was officially recognized and became the youngest chapter of CIE-USA’s seven local chapters.

• Expand your professional network via multiple venues such as newsletter, seminars, conferences, and social networking events.

• Advance your career via professional development workshops in many areas such as leadership and communication.

• Help your local community by participation of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) events.

• Make your voice heard by relentlessly advocating betterment of scientists and engineers to local, regional and national politicians.

Mission

CIE-SoCal is a 501 C(3) non-profit organization dedicated to promoting Asian American engineers and scientists in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in southern California communities.  As a chapter of the National CIE-USA, CIE-SOCAL also serves to advance our member's social and economic well-being in the United States and internationally.
