Wondering where the funds we raised are going towards? Below are some of things we help with at the school.
PAC gave $250 per classroom to fund a variety of class experiences (virtual field trip, hands on activities) to be used by the teachers' discretion:
Ms. Simonson (div 20), Ms Klassen (div 22) and Ms. Johnston (div 23) ordered butterfly larvae kits from Vernon Teach & Learn for the students to learn about the different stages of how a butterfly grow from caterpillars.
Ms. Bailey (div 14) and Ms. Shin (div 18) took her class to a bowling field trip and Domino's pizza party.
Ms Burton (div 11), Ms Simonson (div 20), Ms. Klassen (div 22) and Ms. Johnston (div 23) booked an exotic animal presentation from Urban Safari Rescue Society where students had a great time getting to see the creatures in person and learning cool facts that the presenters taught them.
Ms Fillipelli (div 2) and Ms. Hereward (div 4), Ms. Koh (div 9), Ms. Lynch (div 10) and Ms. Leighs (div 12) booked an architecture workshop from Petit Architect. Maia from Petit Architect did multi-disciplinary, hands on projects with the students to create eco-neighbourhoods, focusing on green energy and sustainability. The projects incorporate elements of math (3D objects), science (climate change), social studies (communities), art and design.
M. Gushue and Ms. L. Burton ordered Richmond Art Gallery kits and ordered supplied for their classroom to do a sewing project, make snow globes, do a canvas painting, grow seeds, make special keychains and make an embroidery project.
Ms. Klassen ordered an electric cordless cutter and Makedo Discover Toolbox and accessories for her class to do some STEM activities.
