The purpose of the survey is to get a real picture of the actual location of the barge scrap that has sunk on the seabed and the verification been conducted through hard anomaly detection using a sub bottom profiler and a magnetometer to detect pieces of iron on the seabed
SUB-BOTTOM PROFILERS (SBP)
SOFTWARE
SonarWiz 7 by Chesapeake Technology, USA was used for data post processing from raw data recorded by SBP and Magnetometer.
Software capable of performing bottom track and digitize seabed layers using manual or automated tools.
The digitized layers with multiple acoustic reflectors can be organized and exported into most major program such as Microsoft Excel for further processing.
SOFTWARE
MAGNETOMETER (MAGGY)
is a scientific instrument used to measure magnetic field strength.
Under thesea, marine magnetometers are used to detect variations in the total magnetic field of theunderlying seafloor.
The increased magnetization is caused by the presence of ferrous(unoxidized) iron/metal on the seafloor, whether from a shipwrecked boat made of steel or avolcanic rock containing grains of magnetite, a highly magnetic mineral.
