SINGLE BEAM INTRODUCTION
Bathymetric survey, continuous echo soundings were carried out and depths were logged into the online navigation system at intervals of not more than 5 metres interval along the profiles.
SINGLEBEAM FREQUENCY ECHO SOUNDER (~200/210 khz) USED FOR BATHYMETRIC SURVEY WITH the transducer mounted over the side of the survey vessel.
Echo sounder was calibrated at the start and end of each day's work when sounding is required using the calibration method known as "Bar Check".
"Bar Check" calibration is to account for the daily variation in acoustic velocity propagation through the water column and also used to check the echo sounder's transducer draft.
POSITIONING AND NAVIGATION
Atlas L-Band H50 Real-Time Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS) was used as the positioning and navigation system for the positioning of survey boat.
The mobile systems used 372 channels, dual frequency Hemisphere AtlasLink Smart Antenna GPS receiver to track satellite vehicles.
D-GPS was integrated into a laptop computer operating on HYPACK ® 2018 Hydrographic Survey Software for the navigation and acquisition of positioning data.
"Bar Check" calibration is to account for the daily variation in acoustic velocity propagation through the water column and also used to check the echo sounder's transducer draft.
Survey information like coordinates (Easting & Northing), distance offline, distance travelled and distance to end of line, survey speed, and course made good, fix number and real time digital depths are displayed.
