All models and textures made by me in Maya 2024 - this scene was inspired by the show, Firefly, with the added story of episode 8 with items such as the blueprints and sticky note.
This project, all done from scratch, was to explore telling a story in an environmental scene. Using Maya & Substance Designer, I created an afternoon tea in the late sunny afternoon surrounded by the lush life of the greenhouse.
One of my own personal projects I've done. I have always enjoyed seeing how creative artists can take an isometric room and tell a story with the setting, so I was inspired to try my own. I decided to go with a witchy theme to not only explore a magic theme but to be able to play with lighting. I also experimented with different lighting set-ups, focusing on a standard render, sunset hour, and night time scene. The entire project was made in Maya.
For this project, we were challenged to come up with an inventive scene of a small world in a larger environment. With my passion for the creative story-telling of Dungeons and Dragons, I created a scene with a set of dice that sprouted various locations the adventurers may find, with the focus being the large wizard's tower.

Based on the painting, "A Friend in Need" by Cassius Coolidge, this render focuses on the unstable nature of a house of cards and how it may reflect on life itself.
For this project, we took a line from a book, song, or poem to visualize what it may mean, and to show the emotion of the piece.
When making this project, I wanted to combine a number of inspirations ranging from the classic tale of King Arthur to Disney's animated film to BBC's Merlin. To keep a more stylized storybook feel, I modeled the fireplace to look like the castle itself and added a toon outline shader to everything.
Using a reference image to inspire me, I modeled & brought to life an eerie scene of an abandoned mall - once a place of bustling life now in ruin and waterlogged.
The Bangkok abandoned shopping mall sparked this idea, so happening that I had saved an image I had come across not too long before starting this project.

To continue working on more styllized props, I wanted to explore the pipeline from polished concept art to the model itself. All modeling was done in Maya and rendered with Arnold, and all textures as well as the concept was digitally hand-painted by me.
One aspect that I did find interesting from going from concept to 3D prop was that some aspects of my design did not translate well to the model itself, such as the chain being wrapped around the handle. Due to size and overlapping, achieving the look I drew wasn't working out. Despite this, I continued forward and did keep the chain on the left axe blade.
For this piece, I wanted to keep it simple to start to focus more on painting and texture, and from going from concept to model.

With this model, I created a cuckoo clock of my own design inspired by the classic tales and depictions of Dracula. The characters that are in the scene can also be seen below.
