As a major provider of education and training, the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS) sets and examines the syllabus for membership, providing the shipping industry with highly qualified professionals. ICS is the only internationally recognized professional body in the maritime arena and it represents shipbrokers, ship managers, agents, insurance, lawyers, logistics and other shipping professionals throughout the world. Our mission is to promote maritime education in the hope of grooming more young talents to join, work and stay in the shipping industry. With 25 branches in key shipping areas, 4000 individuals and 120 company members, the Institute's membership represent a commitment to maintaining the highest professional standards across the shipping industry.
Mr. Punit Oza has over 26 years of experience in Dry Bulk Shipping and is a graduate in Financial Management and Accounting from University of Mumbai and a post graduate in Shipping, Trade and Finance from CASS Business School, London. He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS), UK and chairs the Singapore Branch of ICS. He holds a LLB from University of London and is a Senior Adjunct Fellow in Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) Academy. He is a guest lecturer at Singapore Management University lecturing in “Geopolitical Risks & their impact on Shipping and Trade Flows” and also a guest lecturer for “Private International Law” at BAC College, Singapore, which is affiliated to University of London.
Beginning his career with Precious Shipping, Bangkok, he has worked extensively in Thailand, Hong Kong, Dubai and Singapore with companies such as Noble Chartering, Astra Shipping and Aries Shipbroking.
Mr. Oza joined Torvald Klaveness’ Singapore Regional Office in 2006 and after progressing through various positions, including General Manager and Head of Processes, Systems and Competence, he has moved to the board of Klaveness Asia.
He also sits on the board of Singapore Maritime Foundation (SMF), on the Trade and Connectivity sub-committee of Singapore Government’s Future Economy Council (FEC) and on the Maritime Industry Advisory Committee (MIAC) of Singapore Maritime Academy (SMA). He is also a member of Singapore Institute of Directors, Singapore Chamber of Maritime Arbitration (SCMA) and Maritime Law Association of Singapore (MLAS).
