It was an honour to be the Chair of the University of Toronto’s Speech-Language Pathology 2023 JF Walker Lecture Committee. I joined the SLP Alumni Association as a first year MHSc student in 2013, and have been involved ever since, consistently supporting the JF Walker lecture. This lecture is a wonderful opportunity to gain the latest knowledge and research while collaborating with clinical and academic colleagues.

On June 9, 2023, three esteemed speakers shared their unique perspectives related to post-pandemic practice, and the impact on programs, patients and healthcare professionals. Dr. Abi Sriharan - Senior Scientist and Research Director, Gwen Merrick - Speech-Language Pathologist and Psychotherapist, and Sonya Torreiter - Speech-Language Pathologist, engaged colleagues, alumni, learners and healthcare professionals. This lecture provided an opportunity to reflect on lessons learned as clinicians, as well as how the pandemic has shaped clinical practice for those we serve.

Thank you to the JF Walker Lecture Committee (Michelle, Neil, Morgan, Riveea, Lynn) for their commitment and planning over several months. 2023’s JF Walker lecture was our first-ever hybrid event – a format that is much aligned with our times.

We hope to see you at the next lecture!

Remember to save the date:

The 2025 JF Walker Lecture will take place on
June 13th, 2025.
