STABLES RULES
Rider & Guest Conduct
Helmets are required when mounted for all riders under the age of 18. No exceptions.
Guests may not ride without prior consent and signed release on file (they must be accompanied by the boarder and must wear a helmet if a minor).
Proper attire must be worn when riding and handling: boots, helmet (see 1), jeans or breeches, shirt, and/or chaps.
No running or disruptive behavior near or around barns, arenas, or horses.
No CELL PHONE USE while riding the horses.
No gum or candy while riding.
Guests must be with you. Unless a guest is already a client, you are not permitted to send another person over to ride your horse. If you have a guest ride your horse, appropriate liability waivers must be signed and that guest must wear a helmet if under 18.
Parents, or a designated adult, must stay onsite while their children under the age of 13 are on our premises. We encourage you to enjoy the scenery at the farm and be active in your young rider’s sport.
The office, house and yard are off limits to boarders.
Horse Welfare
All horses boarded at the stable must have current Coggins test and necessary vaccinations on file. See section 4 above for necessary vaccinations and timeframes.
Horses must be kept up to date with all deworming protocols in accordance with veterinary recommendations.
Boarders are responsible for paying for their horse's veterinary and farrier appointments. Stable staff will hold horses for regularly scheduled appointments and make all attempts to hold horses for emergency or urgent appointments.
In case of emergency, stable management is authorized to call a veterinarian for your horse if you cannot be reached immediately. All associated costs will be charged to the boarder.
Any horse showing signs of illness (e.g., fever, nasal discharge, cough) must be immediately reported to stable management and may be required to be isolated.
New horses entering the stable may be subject to a quarantine period as determined by stable management.
All horses on the premises, regardless of breed, shall be treated humanely and with dignity, respect, and compassion at all times. Any observed instances of abuse, neglect, or inhumane treatment will not be tolerated and may result in immediate termination of boarding privileges and potential legal action.
The use of any training practices, surgical procedures, chemical administrations, or devices that could negatively affect a horse’s natural performance, alter its natural conformation, or cause undue pain or suffering is strictly prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to, soring, cruel or excessive use of training aids, or the administration of unprescribed medications.
Arena & Facility Usage
While working with your horse, please be respectful of other’s training sessions.
Lunging is only permitted in the arena when others are riding if space permits.
All arena equipment must be put away neatly when you are done in the arena.
Horses may not be left unattended in the crossties, the wash stall or the arenas.
All gates must be closed after you.
ALWAYS yell door before entering the indoor arena.
Do not ride through the barn aisle or over the septic line.
Any manure in the arenas, wash stall, barn aisle, etc. must be picked up and put in a manure cart or the manure pit.
Tack & Supply Management
Space for trunks is limited to the shed next to the indoor arena. Boarders may keep a trunk in the shed at their own risk.
Tack may be stored in the designated tack room on bridle and saddle hooks and shelving provided (STABLE is not responsible for damaged, lost, or moldy tack).
No unauthorized borrowing of tack or supplies owned by STABLE or other clients. Theft is not tolerated.
Keep your tack and supplies in the tack rooms. Anything not in the tack room needs to fit in your stall bag other than a halter, lead, fly mask, which must hang neatly on the hook provided on the stall.
Hang up hoses in the wash rack, make sure water is turned off, and the wash stall is swept clean when finished. Do not rinse any manure, hair, dirt, etc down the drain in the wash stall.
The stable is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Please clearly label all personal tack and supplies. A lost and found bin will be maintained, and items not claimed within 30 days will be donated or discarded.
Horse Care & Feeding
Our personnel cleans each stall daily; self-service of shavings is not permitted. If you choose to pick your horse’s stall, you must dump all manure in the manure pit and rinse/return any forks, carts, etc to the appropriate location.
Weather permitting, all horses enjoy daily turnout in small groups. During heavy rainfall and/or snow, or when the ground is too wet horses should be hand walked or lunged by the OWNER (unless other arrangements are made - see fee schedule).
Boarders should not feed horses themselves, and self-service of feed/hay is not allowed. Any adjustments to your horse’s feed regimen must be discussed with STABLE management.
Hay, feed and/or supplements will be given by barn personnel and stored in the designated feed room and hay storage area. We strongly prefer your supplements in daily packages such as Platinum Paks or SmartPaks.
You must groom your horse at least once a week. If you do not groom your horse at least once a week, we will do it for you. If you give us more than 24 hour notice, we will charge $35/instance. Less than 24 hour notice or no notice will be charged $50/instance.
Do NOT feed treats to any horse without permission. Permission granted once does not mean you have permission for subsequent visits.
Property & Safety
No dogs allowed on property without prior consent. Dogs must be on leash and curbed.
Boarders may utilize a space in the grass lot below the outdoor arena to park their trailer for a monthly fee; boarder is responsible for shoveling out trailers in the snow and assumes all liability for the trailer.
Clean up after yourself including sweeping crosstie areas and wash stall, picking up manure from the aisles, crossties, wash stall, riding arena, and putting tack and supplies away.
Turn off all lights, heat sources, etc. and close tack room doors when finished.
The speed limit on the property is 5 MPH. Please drive slowly and carefully for everyone’s safety.
Park in the small lot area directly below the shed rows. No parking in front of two shed rows, the manure pit or any gates.
The stable's operating hours for boarder access are 8:00 AM - 9:00 PM. Please be respectful of these hours and plan your visits accordingly.
Boarders are responsible for any damage caused by their horse or themselves to stable property and will be billed for repairs.
NO SMOKING anywhere on the premises. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Stable Management & Policies
STABLE reserves the right to change stall assignments, pasture assignments, etc at their discretion.
You must treat all staff and vendors with courtesy and respect. Rudeness, cattiness, threats or violence will not be tolerated and can be cause for immediate expulsion from the property without refund for any paid board/services. All feedback or concerns with staff, vendors, or barn management must be discussed with STABLE management directly (Eleanor or Jonathan). No exceptions.
Any conflicts or disagreements between boarders should be handled by the boarders with professionalism. Do not engage in arguments or confrontations on stable property. Rudeness, cattiness, threats or violence will not be tolerated and can be cause for immediate expulsion from the property without refund for any paid board/services.
Outside trainers are welcomed. Outside trainers must have proof of insurance on file with STABLE that names Eleanor T. Harowicz, Jonathan A. Harowicz, and Slate Belt Quarter Horses as additionally insured.
No advertising for sale or lease or services (e.g., lessons, training) is permitted on stable property without prior approval from stable management.
Any updates or changes to the barn rules will be posted at the barn.
STABLE may revise these rules from time to time and OWNER agrees any revision shall have the same force and effect as current rules. Failure, as determined in STABLE’S sole discretion, of OWNER or OWNER’s guests and invitees to abide by STABLE rules may result in STABLE declaring OWNER in default hereunder and result in immediate termination of this AGREEMENT without refund of any charges paid.
