Early morning seminary is an option for students whose busy school schedules just don't have room for another elective. Several students take early morning seminary before heading off to other public or charter schools. Because the students in early morning are typically making great sacrifices to be taking seminary, the excitement and willingness to participate in seminary is typically higher than that of release-time classes.
Early morning seminary will be a spiritually strengthening experience for those who are willing and wanting to succeed by doing the following:
First - show up on time; early morning is early and may not be a good option for those who struggle getting out of bed in the early hours of the morning. And even getting to seminary is a challenge for some students as there is no bus to get them here. To succeed once here, be a friend by smiling and getting to know other students in your class before class begins. Finally, while in seminary, seek to learn by the Holy Ghost as you avoid distractions, follow along with the lesson in your own paper scriptures, and participate in the lesson by asking/answering questions, recording thoughts and impressions in your journals, and being willing to pray or read with the class. Again, if those types of activities and that attitude is hard for students who are still trying to wake up, early morning may not be the best choice.
