The following is an in-depth guide for the Fourth Melody of Mother 1.
After you get the third melody, get Great Grandfather's Diary if you don't have it in your inventory already. Go get to the northern Podunk area, you have to head north east from the zoo following the path. Then talk to the cops to get them to move.

There's not much in here to do, just keep going to the right and go into the cave to enter XX Cave 1.
♪Cave of the Tail♪
Go through the path that leads you to the eventual pillar. Use telepathy on the pillar and the Great Grandfather's Diary will answer a question for you, letting you go to Magicant.
♪Magicant♪
You're now in Magicant. The area where you start is in the town area. There's a house near a single tree in the south western area of town that can store items for you. In the northern part of town near the exit, there are three houses with the number seven on them. These are the shops, so there are a bunch of new items here. The items you want are the Gold Ring, Magic Coin and H20 Pendant. Every time you get a new party member, you want to get them these items. There's a free hospital to the left of here. There's a Big Bag in a house near here. You have to give your cash card, but you can immediately get it right back. There's also an Ocarina in an eastern house. Now, you can exit the main town area to encounter new enemies, Big Woodoh, Dadseyes, Foureyes, Groucho, Magic Snail, Momseyes, Raeb Yddet, Sky Yddet, Watcher and Woodoh.

These guys might be a bit tough at the start. A way to fight agains these enemies is to fight them in the north west part of Magicant, as there's a well nearby that can heal you up. Beware of the Sky Yddet's, which can show up if the Yddet calls for them in battle. The Groucho's run away from battle, so you shouldn't attack them, as they give more experience when they run away. Big Woodoh's should also be worrisome, as they blow up after battle for immense damage. Also, beware of the Magic Snail, as it can deal high damage and has a lot of defense. Go north and east past Queen Mary's Castle and through a house for a Flying Man. These are party members that can fight for you in battle, though there are only five of them. You don't need these to progress, and it is likely you won't want them at all. Head back south and towards Queen Mary's Castle. Use telepathy on the guards to go through. Go north and into Queen Mary's Castle.
♪Wisdom of the World (Queen Mary's Castle)♪
First, go all the way to the left most door and then go through the first door. Go to the end of the hallway to talk to Queen Mary, who says that she wants to hear the 8 melodies. Go back, and then through the left door. Go through the first door to find a Magic Herb, Antidote and Flashdark. Head back out and into the middle door for a Magic Herb, Bullhorn and Antidote. Go back out through the left door, and then open the top left present for a free Boomerang. This is the best of all of these presents, so you should pick this one because after the present is chosen, all of the others will disappear. Equip the Boomerang. Exit the castle. If you haven't trained levels yet, now might be a good time to. Make sure you are fully stacked with every item you'll need, as there is a section with no breaks of fighting enemies, even with a boss in between. Once you're ready, head east and across the bridge you see. You'll find a well, go south one tile directly west of it and into the first well you encounter to enter the Crystal Cavern Decent.

Here, there are Ullriches, a new enemy.

Again, just fighting these guys should work. First, go down the right hole twice, then go down the left hole. Here, you'll find a magic herb. Then, go back to the top of the cavern, then go right, left twice, and then right again to reach the Dragon's Cove.

First, go southwest, then go all the way east for a magic herb. Go south west and then east for a PSI Stone. Go north east, fully heal and head into the hole when you are ready to fight the Fish.

Just keep fighting. You'll probably have to heal a few times, but if you're healed fully he shouldn't be much of a challenge. Go down the hole and down the rope for a Onyx Hook. This let's you teleport to Magicant anytime. Head back out of the hole. Go northeast and then west for a Sword. This won't be useful for a very long time, and you'll get a better replacement for it soon after it is useful, so you can get rid of it if you don't want it. Go north east and go west. You'll find the Forgotten Man. He'll ask if you are forgotten, say no. He'll then ask you if you are going to ignore him, say yes. He'll then disappear, giving you access to XX Cave 2.

You should just be able to head south, then head left and into the tunnel to enter South of Merrysville.

You are now entering the Merrysville area, which means that there are plenty of new enemies to deal with, including Bag Lady, Barbot, Bear, Cougar, Eagle, Fugitive, Lil Saucer, Mad Car, Mad Truck, Maniac Truck, Psycho Car, Psycho Truck, Rope, Skunk and Wolf

These enemies can be pretty tough right now, but soon you'll get something that will make fighting these enemies way easier, so if you want, you can hold off on training for now. Keep heading north. Go as north as possible. When you've gone all the way north, go east and down the hill. Then go east and north to Merrysville.

Welcome to Merrysville! The first thing you way want to o is head to the northwern part of town to heal in the hotel. Just so you know, the north western path in town leads to the Podunk area, if you ever need to go back there. There's a guy in between the hotel and department store that can give you a Phone Card, which gives you 50 free phone calls on a pay phone. Get some bread from the Department Store. Then, you can head south into the building to enter Twinkle Elementary.
♪Twinkle Elementary♪
Welcome to Twinkle Elementary! Other than the free nurse, there's nothing interesting on the first floor, so you can go up the stairs. The second to last room has a slingshot and a plastic bat, though if you already have your Boomerang, then these are useless. Check the stairs to the right when you're done exploring, though it will be locked. Then go downstairs and into the right most door. Talk to the man inside, answer yes, yes, no, yes. Then he will take you to the stairs and to the roof. Talk to the trash cap up there multiple times and tell him that you won't pick on him, he'll come out. This is Lloyd, and he says he wants a bottle rocket from Sweet Little's Factory. Use bread if you have it, so you can always teleport back. Head south of Merrysville, past the hill you cam down from. Keep Heading down to enter Sweet Little's Factory.
♪Factory♪
Here, you'll mainly find rats, which should be pretty easy at this point in your journey. So, it can be easy to collect all of the items here. Head left and go through the north door for a Magic Herb. Head left and down the ladder. Head east for an Antidote. Go through the left most doors for Magic Herb, Physical Capsule and LifeUp Cream. Then head right and back up the ladder. Head north and you'll find a right facing door where you'll find a Butter Knife, which is useless, especially if you already have the Sword. Head all the way west and through the north door for a Magic Herb, through the left door for a Rope. Head right and up the ladder. Head through the north door for a Magic Herb, through the left most door for a Fight Capsule. Head all the way right for an Antidote. Go north up the ladder and right for a Quick Capsule. Head all the way east, ignoring the doors for a Life Up Cream. Go through the door for a Plastic Bat and a Magic Herb. Open the trash can to the north east for a free Bottle Rocket. This trash can gives infinite free Bottle Rockets. Head right down the ladder and then left down the ladder. Then go right into the door all the way right to exit Sweet Little's Factory. You can use the bread, or just go back to the roof on Twinkle Elementary and give the Bottle Rocket to Lloyd to add him to your party. Lloyd can attack for decent damage, but he also uses Bottle Rockets for incredible damage. Teleport to Magicant to train up Lloyd. It's good to get him to around level 10 before moving on. You should also buy a Magic Coin, Gold Ring and H20 Pendant for Lloyd, though if you can't get all of this right now, you can return after the next are you go to. Also buy him a Boomerang from the Department Store if you can. Go back to Merrysville and follow the tracks to the east up north to enter the Northern Merrysvile area.
♪Bein' Friends♪
Once you get to the end of the tracks, head west and follow the path north and up the hill. Ignore the first path east, but follow the second path east. There's a dog blocking the way, but they are very easy. Once they are out of the way, head inside to Duncan's Factory.

There are tons of new enemies here in Duncan's Factory, including Bomber, Dr. Distorto, Fire Ball, Old Robot and Scrapper.

These guys CAN be pretty tough, and you need to keep Lloyd alive to the end. Make sure you're healing the whole party if you ever lose HP on Lloyd. First, head right and down the ladder go east through the door for two Bottle Rockets. Go back up the ladder, go east and the up through the door for a Bomb. Head east down the ladder and then west for a Rope. Head up the ladder and go east, past the first ladder down, but go down the second ladder. Go east and up the two northern doors for LifeUp Cream, Physical Capsule, Quick Capsule and Wisdom Capsule. Go back up the ladder, head east and go through the northern door for a Bomb. Go down the west ladder and through the eastern door for a Rope. Go up the western ladder and through the door for a Bomb. Head through the eastern ladder, then up the western ladder for a PSI Stone. Go down the ladder and east up the next ladder. Then go west up the ladder and up the next ladder. Go up the first eastern ladder and go through the door for a LifeUp Cream. Go down the ladder, through the next eastern ladder and then go through the western door for a Bottle Rocket. Go down the ladder, then go up the next eastern ladder and through the door for a Rope. Go down the ladder and through the next eastern ladder for Bread and a Franklin Badge. Give the Franklin Badge to Lloyd. This is a must. Go down the ladder and go all the way east through the door for a Bomb. Go west up the ladder, go west up the next ladder, then go all the way west up the next ladder. Head right through the door for a Force Capsule. Then go all the way west through the path and then through the west door. Check the rocket inside. You can only do this if Lloyd is still alive. Then use crumbs to exit, or you can go through the eastern door, go all the way east down the ladder, go east down the ladder, then go east down the next ladder, Go south down the ladder, go east down the ladder, east down the ladder, east down the ladder, Go west down the second ladder, The go west and then north to exit Duncan's Factory. Go back to Merrysville and deposit around $400 for the next section. Go northwest along the tracks to the east to enter the Union Station area.

Here, the boulder that was previously here got destroyed by the rocket you set. This is way forward. Follow the rails and you'll come across a building. This is the Union Station. Go inside and buy tickets to Reindeer.

Once you get here, talk to the old lady to get the hat. Then buy tickets to Snowman.

There are TONS of very tough enemies here, though you'll get a chance to better fight against them in a minute. The new enemies include Big Foot, Lone Wolf, Polar Bear and Silver Wolf.

These guys have incredibly high defense, so make good use of the nearby hospital while training, as well as Ninten's Def. Down PSI ability. Go through the south east path to get to town, but don't talk to anybody, they'll give you a cold. You can get mouthwash from the store if you need it. Call your dad here and he'll ask you for the player's name. Put in your name. Go all the way through the east path. Here you'll find the hardest enemies, so go as fast as possible. Go into the building you see. You'll find Ana inside. Use the hat on here and answer yes. She'll then join your team! Ana is a mage of sorts, having strong physical PSI abilities, but not good with items or physical attacks. Go back into town and buy Ana a Frying Pan. Teleport to Magicant to get her to around level 10 or so, getting her a Magic Coin, Gold Ring and H20 Pendant. Also, if you go outside of Magicant town and go immediately west down the south west path you'll find a mouse inside of the clouds. Have Ana use Telepathy to get the Ribbon, which Ana can use. Go back to Merrysville, then grab around 80 dollars and head to Union Station. Get tickets to Reindeer and hop on the train. Head south to enter Reindeer.

There is a man near the Department Store and say yes to get free money. Wen you're ready to move on, head northwest from town. Keep heading northwest along this path until you find a cliff. Go up the cliff to enter the Mislay Triangle area.

Go north west up the ramp, then go northwest up the next ramp. Here, you'll find an old man that cant' talk to you right now. Go east and down the ramp, then go around counter clockwise and you'll eventually find a sign with dentures. Go back to the old man and give him his dentures, he'll now give you mouthwash at a way lower price. It might be a good idea to sell your mouthwash and buy it back for some extra cash now. When you're ready, go to Reindeer, buy some Bread if you want, and use it around this area. Get around 120 dollars. Head to the station up north and buy tickets to Spookane.

Head south and you'll find a hotel. Go in and stay here, though after you stay you'll have to battle a Starman.

Use Ana's strongest PSI Beam ability now to get rid of him quickly. If you really need to heal after this fight, use you're bread to go back to Reindeer. Otherwise, use LifeUp. Go south east of here, down the ramp, then go east of here and tehn north, talking to the girl along the way to get the Ghost Key. Go all the way north, going up two ramps, then head west up the ramp, then east up the ramp, then go north and use the key on the door to go inside Rosemary Manor.

There are a bunch of new and tough enemies here. Specifically, Alarm Ghost, Armor, Bionic Bat, Dust Ball, Nasty Zombie, Shroudley and Zombie.

These enemies can be Incredibly tough. The Armor is the toughest here, you're best bet is to either run away, or use PSI shield and LifeUp while slowly chipping away at their health. All the other enemies should be fairly easy. Go through the lower door, and then the lower door again for an Antidote. Go through the lower door, then the higher door for a LifeUp Cream. Go outside and through the lower door for an Antidote. Go back, then back again, then through the higher door. Go down the stairs through the door, then go through the bottom door, then go down for Bread. Go back up the stairs through the door, then go back up the stairs through the door again. G back twice, then through the top door, then through the top door again. Go through the bottom door, then the bottom door again all the way down it's stairs. Grab the LifeUp Cream. Check the piano nearby to hear the fourth melody.
