Students should be working to complete items on their Passport
Students should ask for feedback
Preceptors should give students feedback
Students should present QR shift evaluation for you to complete
Preceptors should be reviewing the first section of the evaluation with the student
Our expectation:
See patients primarily on their own with your supervision
Active in finding and assigning themselves to patients
Responsible for all aspects of the patient's care
History and physical exam
Placing orders
Presenting to the Attending
Documentation (as appropriate)
Following up on results
They should tell you pertinent results and their plan for next steps
Patient reassessment and updates
Disposition
Discuss with hospitalist/specialists
Discuss findings and give instructions to patient
Residents will likely assign patients to the student
The student should present to the attending
The student may or may not place orders
The student should reassess their patients and discuss appropriate disposition based on results
