Hello everyone, welcome to our blog! This is an assignment in the Intercultural Communication class By Ms. Irene Kujala
Our group name is Sisu, after a Finnish concept which can be described as a kind of inner strength, determination, or perseverance in the face of challenges. As one Finnish native describes it, “It’s the backbone, drive, and courage that allows you to overcome adversity and see things through to the end. It’s not envisioning the end goal. It’s taking yourself to the goal step by step” (Read more about this here!)

When people think of England, they think of fish and chips, tea, and the King's Guard in fuzzy hats. But the truth is this island nation has given us so much more, from Shakespeare to the Rolling Stones, from Charles Darwin to the English language itself.
We'd like to note here that while England is not a sovereign state and only one part of the United Kingdom, we believed it best to consider it separately from the UK as a whole. Although many people in England consider the terms "English" and "British" synonymous, this is not necessarily true for everyone and separatist movements still exist across the UK with support from political parties. We also find that while their history and culture overlap, each has its own vibrant and unique traditions that deserve consideration on their own.
